Extending Unmanned Systems Panel Discussion at the San Diego Regional Security Conference
VANCOUVER, BC-September 9, 2010-Spark Integration Technologies Inc., an award-winning developer of integration software for unmanned systems, announced today that it will be presenting a panel discussion alongside representatives from General Atomics, Inmarsat and Cahon Systems at the San Diego Regional Security Conference on September 14, 2010.
The Security Network's 3rd annual San Diego Regional Security Conference, to be held on September 14-15, will focus on five strengths of San Diego: C4ISR, CyberSecurity, Robots, Secure Communications, and Sensors.
The panel will discuss how General Atomics was able to extend the satellite data links available to users of the General Atomics MQ-1 Predator quickly and cost-effectively. Cahon Systems were selected to build the subsystem based on their previous work with General Atomics.
Barry Jackson, President of Cahon Systems said, "General Atomics were looking to add Inmarsat BGAN satellite data link capabilities to the list of available options for their Predator customers. A rip and replace approach would have made the project financially unviable so we decided to wrap the existing communications electronics with software and then add the new functionality on top. We looked at several options before selecting Distrix from Spark Integration Technologies Inc. which enabled us to isolate the electronics using software abstractions and provide real time control within the entire BGAN communications subsystem.
Michael Neale of General Atomics, Warren Keane of Inmarsat, Barry Jackson of Cahon Systems and Chad Trytten of Spark Integration Technologies will be on the panel to discuss how the teams worked together and how Distrix was used to integrate disparate components from different manufacturers to provide General Atomics with a cost effective solution.
