Integration challenges in communication systems surround the integration of components along a signal path which use different communications protocols at different stages of transmission. Signal paths may be reliable (in the case of TCP/IP-based networks), unreliable (in wireless line-of-sight communications) or a combination of both.

Distrix supports multiple communication protocols for robust inter-process intercommunication. Distrix can be configured to use alternate signal paths automatically without impacting existing application code.
